It is said that when a person's name is said out loud it honors the life they lived, and that person will always be a part of those who come after them.
The last few months have been unimaginable for the PBGYAA and our soccer community, as we have grieved along side the Rogers' Family of the great loss of a sweet boy, who was quickly growing into a bright, strong, young man. Ryan Rogers was a ten-year player in our soccer league, starting as a 5 year old and was looking forward to his chance to be a referee and high school player in our recreation soccer program as a soon to be 15 year old.
This spring soccer season, each player from U5 through High School wears a red number 7 on the sleeve of their jersey in honor of Ryan. His favorite jersey number when playing was 7, and his favorite color red.
In addition, the PBGYAA Soccer Board has made the decision to rename the soccer academic scholarship fund in honor of Ryan.
The Ryan Rogers Scholarship Fund will be distributed each Spring to those graduating seniors who apply and are awarded a scholarship.
While Ryan will not have the opportunity to spread his wings and leave our soccer fields moving on to college, each child that will be provided a scholarship will take Ryan with them. We know he will be a guiding light of strength and courage as each student moves on in their young life.
The 2022 Ryan Rogers Scholarship Fund application will be available to complete starting March 15, 2022. Scholarships this year will be awarded by the end of May 2022. Further information will be distributed shortly.
Each season sales proceeds from the Soccer Concession Stand and Raffle Basket Fundraisers help to fund the Ryan Rogers Scholarship Fund.
